Day 11 - Taking Stock & Survey
Jon reviews what we have covered thus far in the program. This is a time to "take stock" of your experience to date. Please also take 5 minutes to complete our survey. Your feedback is invaluable and will help us improve the program.
Jon discusses what we’ve covered in the program Days 1-10; topics covered include:
Your “Old Back Story” (the story you’ve historically told others about your pain)
The Emotion-Stress Response (ESR) and how this triggers pain
Deep breathing and how to incorporate this into your day-to-day
The practice of negative writing
The Type A personality and the “Big 4” emotions that trigger ESR
Case histories of people with persistent pain who healed
Negative Writing (on a piece of paper you will rip up and throw away afterwards): Take 5 minutes to write down all of the negative thoughts causing you anxiety right now, and when you are done, rip up the piece of paper.
Questions for your journal (write in your journal, which you will keep):
Step back and reflect - What have you learned about yourself thus far in the program?
Have you incorporated deep breathing and negative writing into your day? If so, what have been the benefits; if not, how can you do so?
On a 1-10 scale (10 being worst) how would you rate your pain today?
